The laptop has built on an all-new design language named 'Legend' and the chassis uses magnesium alloy and comes with a three-knuckled hinge design which reduces the overall footprint of the device. And this laptop is designed to be meant as a desktop replacement in its true form.

It weighs around 3.8kg and comes with a certain amount of theft along with narrow bezels on the side. Also, being an Alienware laptop it comes with all the bells and whistles like 5th generation of Tobii Eye-tracking technology, customizable lighting, Cryo-tech 2.0 technology for better cooling and also comes with company's TactX keyboard with 2.2m travel and pre-key RGB lighting.

The laptop uses desktop-class Intel 9th generation CPUs ranging from Intel i7-8700 to Intel i9-990k and since the laptop is upgradable, it uses Intel Z390 socketed motherboard, just like one would find on desktops. Also, Area 51-m supports desktop-class GPU and those are available with a choice from RTX Geforce 2070 with 6GB of GDDR4 RAM, RTX Geforce 2070 with 8GB of GDDR4 RAM or RTX Geforce 2080 with 8GB of DDR4 RAM. Also, you get four ram slots which can accommodate up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM and comes with single, dual and triple storage configurations ranging from PCIe M.2 SSDs to even from the RAID 0 configurations.

The Alienware Area 51-M is only available with a 17.3-inch display and supports resolution up to Full-HD and comes with a bunch of customizations, one with the standard 60Hz panel, one with Nvidia G-sync, a 144hz panel, and Tobii Eye Tracking technology and also comes with the ultimate combo which includes all of these. The laptop also features an HD webcam with dual array mics and stereo speakers.

Connectivity options include three USB 3.1 ports [Type A], one Thunderbolt port [Type C], HDMI 2.0, Displayport 1.4, headphone and microphone sockets, gigabit ethernet and an Alienware amplifier port.
